3 weeks old

Dear Baby Tate,

You are such a sweet little baby! I can't imagine our family without you. I went into the hospital on March 21st, as planned, for my induction.  We got to the hospital at 7:00 in the morning.  They broke my water right away and gave me pitocin to start my labor.  The nurse told me she thought you would be there no later than 2 pm.  You had other plans, though.  It took you 10 1/2 hours, but you finally dropped down into position, and were born at 6:49 pm.  You were posterior (just like Jack!), so the doctor had to flip you before you were delivered, and you had the cord wrapped tight around your neck.  You were just fine, but a little purple, so they had to rough you up a little to help you breathe.   You weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces and were 20 inches- much bigger than I expected! In fact, you didn't fit into any of your newborn sized clothing!

You were a great little nurser from the start.  We struggled so much to teach that to Jack, and he never got the hang of it, so this was a huge relief to me.  You also sleep very well (not always at night).  You smile all the time, and I think you might have dimples- not sure where those came from!

I feel so blessed to have you join our little family.  Nothing makes me happier than snuggling up with you and Jack.  I promise to always love you and teach you as much as I can.  You are lucky to be born into an eternal family and to have the gospel in your life from the very beginning. I promise that if you stay true to it's teachings, it will guide you and give you direction throughout your life.  I love you very much.

Love,
Mommy

38 weeks

Dear Baby,

We only have a few days left! Six days to be exact.  I went to the doctor yesterday for my last visit.  Everything looks just right, they say.  We are all set to have you induced next Wednesday.  I am still only dilated to a 1.5, but I think that is a good thing, because all three of us are sick.  I need you to keep cooking until Wednesday, so we have time to get healthy (and to de-germ our entire house)!  Jack and I made you two more blankets yesterday, and we finally got some newborn sized diapers for you- you would be swimming in Jack's leftover size 5 diapers!  I think we are all set for you to arrive.

Mommy

Dear Baby,

I have a wisdom tooth coming in!  There's not much to do about it until after you arrive, but soon after I will have to have them removed.  I have another sinus infection, too.  I seem to have gotten sick so often this winter!  Hopefully everything will be cleared up by the time you enter the picture, and you can come home to a healthy family.  I finished your baby quilt today, and it is waiting for you in your crib.  One more thing checked off the list!  We can't wait for you to join us.

Your Mom

36 weeks

Dear Baby,

We saw the doctor again today, and not much has changed.  We both seem healthy, and we will just wait to see what happens from here.  If you don't decide to come sooner, your birthday will be 3 weeks from tomorrow.  Your cousin, Reagan, was born on Sunday.  We are going to meet her this evening.  I can't wait to see her, and I'm so happy she's here, because that means it's almost your turn! We have lots to do before you arrive, but things are quickly falling into place.  Aunt Kaylene brought over a car seat for you, and Jack has been playing with it constantly.  He buckles in his stuffed panda bear, then tucks him in with a blanket, then zips up his "car seat jacket," then pulls down the car sear canopy, and tells him to go to sleep.  Then he undoes it all and says, "Surprise, you're awake!"  We may have a few more things to help him understand before you arrive, or you'll never get any sleep!

35 weeks

Dear Baby,

I went to the doctor, and found out that that I am 1 cm dilated and 0 % effaced.  That is all just fine with me, but we have quite a bit of progress to make before you are ready join us!  Your heart rate was great- 154 beats per minute, and you are still measuring right on track- 35 weeks.  We will check back in with Dr. Jones next week to see if anything has changed.  I hope you are growing stronger and healthier everyday.  I can't wait to meet you!

34 weeks

Dear Baby,

Everything has been much quieter since our little hospital visit last week.  You are moving around plenty, and that makes me feel much more relaxed.  We had a lovely Valentine's Day yesterday, but it has left me feeling quite tired today.  I am getting tired more easily lately, but that is normal towards the end.  Next week I will start visiting the doctor every week, and he will start checking my body to see how close I am to delivery. So far everything is going smoothly! I love you, my son, my son.

33 1/2 weeks

Dear Baby,

You gave us quite the scare yesterday. I couldn't feel you moving very much during the day, and then in the afternoon, I couldn't feel you moving at all for almost 3 hours.  I tried bumping my stomach, loud noises, walking around, laying down, eating something sugary, drinking a big glass of cold water, even taking a shower. You must have been having a really good dream, because nothing I tried would get you moving.  The doctor told us to go into labor and delivery, so we went in and they did a non-stress test on us.  Everything was just fine, (I had a feeling it would be) and eventually I could feel you start moving around again.  We went to the doctor today, and everything is still looking good.  Your heart rate was 134 and I am measuring at 34 weeks, right on schedule.  Let's not do that again, okay?!

33 weeks

Dear Baby,

I am starting to feel very pregnant!  I have to pee every half hour (or so it seems), and I can constantly feel your little feet and bum trying to push up into my rib cage.  I think I might be starting to waddle a little, too.  I've been working on a baby quilt for you.  I hope you like it.  I got the top all finished this week, and now I need my Aunt Effie's help to quilt it and bind it.  We're in the final stages of getting all your things together, but sometimes it feels like I will never be ready! I hope all is well with you.

Love,
Mommy

PS. Here is a picture of what my tummy is looking like.  This was taken this weekend in American fork canyon.

Dear Baby,

I am getting so excited to meet you!  We have only 7 weeks from tomorrow until the doctor will induce you.  Whether you come sooner is up to you.  Jack can't wait meet you either.  He talks about you everyday, and puts his face up to my tummy, and says, "Baby Tate, come out and play!" He is even learning to spell your name.  He loves to practice typing it into my phone.  I hope you are growing healthy and stronger everyday!

Dear Baby,

You have been so active lately!  I can track your knees and elbows as they move across my belly.  A couple of times I have even been able to grab your little foot as you kick.  I love it- I think this is the closest I can get to holding you until you arrive.  We are all a little under the weather with colds this week, so right now we are focusing on getting better so you have a nice and healthy place to come home to!

30 weeks

Dear Baby,

I think that you are head down and in the right position!  I always feel your hiccups on my hip or tailbone, and your little feet are up in my ribs.  We will find out when we go see Dr. Jones next week.  I sure hope you stay that way.  It will make your delivery so much easier for both of us!  Your Nana has booked a flight, and is coming out March 17, so make sure you stay in until then.  We will see you soon!

Dear Baby,

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee455655455eee4eeeeeew  That is a message from Jack.  Can you tell that his favorite letter is "e"?  Guess what- you are going to come a few days earlier than we thought.  When I went into my appointment on Thursday, Dr. Jones told me he had moved up my due date to March 24th.  My induction day also changed to March 21st, so we will expect to see you then!

Dear Baby,

It's the home stretch- I'm in my 3rd trimester.  I will go to the doctor on Thursday, and very soon I will be going more often.  Your daddy and I have been working hard to get your room ready for you.  We have been sorting baby clothes, switching out your dresser, and moving lots of furniture to get it just right.  We still have a few more things to do, but it's starting to look really cute!  We are moving Jack into the other bedroom this weekend, and the nursery will officially be yours- I hope you like it!

Dear Baby,

We had a fantastic Christmas!  You got a sweet little onesie and a frog piggy bank.  Next year you will be all over the wrapping paper and pulling off the ornaments from the tree. It seems like you have really stretched out this week.  I can feel you moving up in my ribs and down by my hips and around my sides all at the same time! Yesterday I could feel your hiccups for the first time.  They are so precious and tiny just like you!

Dear Baby,

You have made this pregnancy so much simpler on me!  Thank you!  I just found out that I don't have gestational diabetes this time around, and I couldn't be more excited.  Now I can enjoy all those Christmas goodies about to come our way.  Hopefully the rest of our time together is just as pleasant and uneventful as the first little while has been.  Your Daddy and I  decided that we would each pick out a Christmas gift for you and we would open each others' gift.  Guess what- we both picked out the same thing!  You'll have to wait until after Christmas to find out what it is.  And then 3 more months until you can actually see it.  We can't wait to meet you, little one!

Mommy
